Hello: My name is John Schmidt. I am from Wintersville, OH. I recently purchased a 1960 Austin VP Princess from someone in Californa. I should be receiving the car this week as it is currently in transit. The VIN is: dm414057. It is two tone with a black upper and silver lower. The license tag is a 1960 Florida plate "PRINCESS". If anyone knows of this vehicle please let me know. I am beginning a file on the car and would like to know as much history about the car as possible. I have sent photos to Bryan Peebles and Ron Godfrey but do not know if I can post on this thread. I am anxious to get started with this car and look forward to sharing information on this site. Thanks. Image

Hi: I am in the process of getting the Princess registered in the State of Ohio. I need a VIN verification. Would someone please post a picture of a "real VIN tag" for the Princess and its correct location. With all of the problems I have had with the acquisition of this car I would not be surprised about anything. That is another story I will share once I get possession and title. Thanks.

I tried to edit and post a picture on the opening thread. It didn't work. Would a moderator help me out with this. I would like to post more pics in the future.

Another question about VIN tag location. I have two VIN tags. Both are shiny brass tags approximately 2.54cm x 7.5cm with stamped numbers. One is located on the glove box door and the other directly opposite the glove box door on the engine side of the firewall. Could they be original?

I did find a British license plate " XUC 564" in the trunk. Would someone be able to find any history using that?

Also, could someone explain why my picture wouldn't post as I posted it in my opening post. Thanks.

You need to use the code ending in .jpg for above to work.

Unfortunately I can't do this for you as you have disabled sharing! :(

Here's the one on one of my Wolseleys :-

Yours will probably be similar and maybe on the front bonnet-slam panel (as per the above Wolseley) or door pillar (as per my Austin).

Doesn't seem to appear on any of the websites you can check over here. :(

"No descriptive data is held by DVLA for registration number XUC564."

Thanks for the information. I did add .jpg to the thread and it still doesn't work. How do I "able" sharing?

Now I am looking for a key blank in order to have an additional key cut. Any sources out there.

Still anxiously awaiting the service manual that I bought off ebayUK.

You need to use the code ending in .jpg , not just add .jpg to the end!
