Top Gear 22nd June - VDP Allegro

Did anyone see that stupid bit about a world speed record for jumping on a ramp backwards? I was difficult to see what condition the Allegro was in but it was obviously a runner. They claimed that it was more aerodynamic going backwards that forwards - I suppose this may have been true, but no reason to destroy it! Perhaps Giles should send them a note asking them not to do that again? I can just imagine the response from such yobs.

Yes, Stephen. Whilst I am pleased to say that particular car is not known to me or the Vanden Plas Owners Club, there did appear to be several parts on it (grille for instance) which would have been useful to someone.

AIMS OF THE CLUB

a) Generally to help and encourage members to maintain these fine cars in good running order and appearance.

b) To organise rallies and meetings nationwide, and to field an annual Show Day. Members can compete at these events for trophies, these being awarded for the best cars in restoration, and most used classes.

c) To offer technical advice to those people seeking help. We also help those not wishing to carry out their own repairs, as some of our members are motor engineers and specialise in the various models within the club.

d) Spares are offered for sale through the club magazine, and several of our members have stocks of spares for sale.
